2.8/5.6 Differential Electrolytic Tinplate Sheet MR Type for Beverage Can Ends

This differential-coated electrolytic tinplate sheet features a specialized 2.8/5.6 g/m² tin coating distribution, specifically designed for beverage can end shell manufacturing. The MR-type base steel, combined with T4 temper properties, ensures exceptional formability and structural integrity during high-speed shell conversion processes exceeding 600 strokes per minute.

Differential Coating Advantage

  • Internal Side (5.6 g/m²): Heavier tin coating on the product-contact side provides maximum corrosion resistance against acidic carbonated beverages, citrus-based drinks, and isotonic sports beverages.
  • External Side (2.8 g/m²): Standard coating on the exterior surface is optimized for decoration adhesion, enabling vibrant lithographic printing while maintaining rust protection during distribution.
  • Cost-Optimized Design: By applying tin strategically where needed most, differential coating delivers targeted protection while reducing overall tin consumption compared to equal 5.6/5.6 coating.

MR Type Base Steel Properties

  • Ultra-low residual element content (Cu ≤0.10%, Ni ≤0.06%, Cr ≤0.06%, Mo ≤0.03%) ensures consistent annealing response and uniform mechanical properties coil-to-coil.
  • Excellent drawability for shell-forming operations with consistent earing behavior (≤4% average) for predictable flange geometry.
